RE: The Benefits of using ISDN, ADSL and Broadband
Text:
Question: – ISDN, ADSL and Broadband Connections – What are they?
Answer:-
They are all forms of digital phone connections, that allow any recording studio or individual to transmit (send) audio or data files digitally anywhere in the world at anytime.
As a Voice Artist, you would benefit from having access to any of these systems.
ISDN:-
The Industry standard system is ISDN. This system allows you for example as a Voice Artist, to record (either on your own set-up or at a recording studio that has it), a vocal session via ISDN and “pump” it digitally down the Internet anywhere in the world in real time to your client. Typically they will have a compatible set-up their end that will allow them to “capture” your voice on their system as well as allowing them to direct you from the comfort of both yours and their studio environment.
Your basic ISDN session could go like this:-
1.You get up, shower, and warm up your voice for the day ahead.
2.You client phones you to check your availability and to book an available time slot.
3. They then FAX you the script.
4. At the discussed time, they then dial up your ISDN line, and your remote session is under way.
5.Your voice arrives (anywhere in the world) in a matter of seconds all without you leaving the comfort of your own home studio or the ISDN studio you have hired.
It's that easy.
Although this system is not cheap ( to buy - about £2,000 for a basic system or anything from £50 to £125 an hour to hire) the obvious benefits here, are that you can expand you client base to anywhere in the world.
This Link explains these systems in more detail.
